Dear Little League Parent,

On behalf of everyone associated with your Little League, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child to another great year of Little League baseball/softball at our new home in Abbott Loop Community Park. The Board of Directors, along with many other volunteers, have been working hard since the end of the last season preparing the fields for the 2008 season.

To make this year a success we truly need your SUPPORT and PARTICIPATION. I can attest to the fact that over the years, many long standing friendships have started as a result of getting involved in your Little League. With your involvement we can continue the tradition of teaching our children about the game of baseball/softball, as well as teaching the qualities of good sportsmanship and teamwork, which are lessons; they will keep with them for a lifetime.

This year we not only need your support with the teams we need your help by securing sponsors for our league. Your registration fees only cover a portion of the cost associated with running our association and without donations from individuals and businesses your fees would be significantly higher. This year it will take approximately $47,000 to make this season a success, with registration fees only covering portion of this amount we will be asking each team to secure a minimum of $500 in sponsorships. When your coach or team mom ask for your help please give them all the help you can; our kids are counting on us.

The best thing about little league is that we require nothing more than a willingness to give a little something back to the kids. Please take the time to ask questions and to fill out the volunteer application for an activity that interests you. Someone will contact you regarding how you can help.

Finally, please remember that Little League is for the kids, not the parents. Its primary purpose is for us to teach fundamental skills, good sportsmanship and teamwork, but most important, is that your child has fun. Please attend your child's games, it really means a lot to them when you are there supporting them. The season moves quickly but the memories will last forever.
